Boys basketball: Johnson knocks off N. Forsyth

OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys hit nine free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off North Forsyth 60-53 wednesday night in the JHS Holiday Shootout.

The Knights were missing several key players due to injuries but managed to lead nearly throughout.

The Knights led 13-11 after the first quarter but used a a 22-11 second quarter to take a 35-22 lead into halftime. North Forsyth rallied to cut the lead to four points before Johnson closed out the third quarter with a 7-0 run to push the lead to 49-38. North Forsyth would not get closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Montrell McKenzie led Johnson (6-6) with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Drew Dunham added 13 points to go with six assists. A.J. Benefield had 12 points and Ty Odem 10 for the Knights.

North Forsyth was led by Chris Bureau with 16 points. Caleb Knost added nine points for the Raiders.
