Turner said funding has been approved, " but they're tell us it could be next summer before construction begins." Turner said, it not just for White County but both commissioners in Union and Towns counties have expressed the urgent need to get the bypass completed.
Davis said, they use these visits around the state to set up their contacts for future projects saying, " in the future we are looking to partnering with local officials here, and with economic development and those kind of things, the governors office can partner with local officials and we can get Georgians back to work that is what Governor Deal is all about."
Dr. Emir Caner, Truett McConnell College President welcomed the group to the campus and provided a tour of the college's newly renovated Miller Building, student dormitory and expanded dining hall. Caner said, "the governor has really, in many ways, help save lots of these students from having to drop out or do things differently and it has been a tremendous blessing to Truett McConnell, to White County, and it enables us to thrust forward.
