Man exposed to rabies in one of 2 recent S. Hall incidents

GAINESVILLE - Two rabies cases have now been confirmed this week in the Union Church Road area of south Hall County and in one instance a young man was exposed to the virus.

First, a rabid skunk came into contact with two dogs on Oct. 31, according to officials with Hall County Animal Services.

They added that a young man then came in contact with a rabid raccoon in that same vicinity later that week and was immediately treated for rabies.

The incidents bring the total number of confirmed rabies cases in Hall County this year to 12.

Rabies alert signs have been posted in the area where the animals were located.
