CUMMING - Two people have been arrested in connection with a break-in at a Forsyth County home early Monday morning, and the homeowner is in jail, as well.
Forsyth County Sheriff's investigators identified the two in custody as Sean M. Kinney, 27, and Jodie Marie Davis, 22, both of 1430 Lakeside Trail in Cumming. The two are boyfriend and girlfriend.
According to Investigator Jason Soles of the Forsyth County Criminal Investigations Division, around 1:03 a.m. on Halloween morning, Kinney and Davis are accused of breaking through the back door of the home of David L. Geary at 2550 Barbara Lane. Geary was asleep on the couch at the time, according to authorities.
The two suspects physically assaulted Geary, as they attempted to get him to tell them where some money was hidden. Soles said after about an hour, Geary told the suspects where the money was located. They then tied Geary up, using shoestrings, and placed a plastic bag over his head, and left the home with the money.
Soles said Geary managed to free himself and ran to the home of a neighbor where he called for help. Geary was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Lt. Col. Gene Moss added that as the investigation progressed, authorities discovered Geary knew the people who had beaten him and robbed him.
"Warrants were then secured for a man and a woman," Moss said. Kinney and Davis were located around 5 p.m. on Monday at a business near Tucker in DeKalb County.
"We also recovered a considerable amount of cash from them," added Moss. A large quantity of prescription drugs and marijuana were also found with the two. It is not believed the drugs were taken from the Geary residence.
In addition, investigators learned that the victim of the armed robbery and aggravated assault, David Geary, was wanted in Sandy Springs on an outstanding warrant for burglary. Once Geary was released from the hospital, he was taken into custody by the Sandy Springs Police Dept.
