Gainesville: A Vote AGAINST Jobs For Taxpayers

Any business manager who expects to give his or her people a raise, or create new jobs, has to believe the company will make a higher profit than it is making right now. In the real world, profit and jobs move up, or down, together. To take that one step further, I think it fair to point out that businesses tend to locate in communities (and states and countries, for that matter) where the business climate is most favorable. <br /> <br /> So, what does the City of Gainesville SAY when it raises taxes in a community with 7,768 people unemployed? People who would like to have a job. Many of our small businesses are trying to make enough profit to stay afloat, and all of them are predicting higher costs and burdensome regulations coming out of Washington. I can guarantee you a lot of businesses are now using temps or part-timers rather than hiring people, simply because they do not want to put themselves in a position where they might have to let somebody go if government â
