CLEVELAND - Qualifying got underway Monday at the White County Courthouse in Cleveland for this summers party primary elections.  Four county commission and two board of education positions are up for election this year. In the first hour of qualifying three candidates signed up to run for county commission seats.
The first to pay the qualifying fee and sign up was current commissioner Craig Bryant who qualified to run in District 4, Terry Goodger qualified for district 1 and former commissioner Edwin Nix made it official by qualifying for district three post. Goodger said he has some areas he want to work on such as helping create jobs and attracting business and industry to the county. Also qualifying Monday was Lamerle Edwards the incumbent in district 2, White County Board of Education.    Â
All the candidates qualifying have done so as Republicans and Kristy Hammond, Chair for the White County Republican Party said they will be at the courthouse this week until noon on Friday qualifying candidates.
