UNDATED - The continuing rain means some rivers in the northeast Georgia area are getting dangerously close to flood stage and is putting a damper on some railroad crossing work in Gainesville.
The National Weather Service has issued a river flood warning for the Alcovy River in Lawrenceville, the Suwanee River in Suwanee and the North Oconee River in Arcade.
Earlier, a flood warning was posted for Big Creek in southern Forsyth County.
RR CROSSING WORK IMPACTED
The wet weather is getting in the way of some railroad crossing work in Gainesville.
City officials say the Georgia Avenue crossing work will not be finished until next Wednesday, at the earliest. Workers had hoped to finish it Friday. Work on the Hancock Avenue crossing, scheduled to begin Tuesday is now set to start February 15, according to Gainesville city officials.
