Evans endorses Hawkins

GAINESVILLE - Mike Evans - who dropped out of the 9th District congressional race a few weeks ago - has endorsed Lee Hawkins for the post.

Evans - who gave up his run for the seat because of the financial strain he said it was putting on his family - said Hawkins cited, among other things, Hawkins' record in the state Senate. He added that Hawkins has also demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the 9th District with his 30 years of local business ownership.
