BUFORD - The FBI is working with Gwinnett County police to find a suspect in an armored car robbery at the Mall of Georgia at 11:15 Tuesday morning.
Two armored car couriers were loading an ATM inside the mall near the movie theater when police said a man approached them and held a gun to the head of one of the couriers. The suspect grabbed some money and fled, and that's when the second courier fired a shot.
Gwinnett Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said no one was hurt.
"Obviously, it was inside the mall in the middle of the mall, but it was secluded away from people. It's back in a corner," said Ritter.
Ritter said authorities do not believe the suspect was hit by the gunfire.
He said it is possible this suspect is part of a group responsible for several armored car robberies in the area over the last few months.
The suspect was described as a black male, 25 to 30 years of age, 5'-9" to 6'-2", stocky build and weighed between 200-250 lbs. He has a dark complexion and is clean shaven with a close haircut. He was wearing a black cap, black zip up jacket with dark jeans and white sneakers.
