Deal ready to reach out to Democrats

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ATLANTA - Governor-elect Nathan Deal says he's ready to work with Democrats in Georgia for the betterment of the state.

"I look forward to working across party lines," Deal told a post-election news conference Wednesday. "I think that's what's good for our state."

Deal also said he welcomes input from his Democratic opponent in Tuesday's election, Roy Barnes. Deal called Barnes a "bright man," adding that some of the ideas he advocated during the campaign "have merit."

Deal used the news conference to announced his transition team and inaugural teams. (See separate story.)
