Authorities release name of Winder murder victim

WINDER - Barrow County Sheriff's officials have released the name of the man who died after being stabbed by his roommate in Winder Friday morning.

Authorities said 20-year-old Luis Enrique Gonzalez-Pina was a native of Mexico and shared the Midland Court home with his alleged attacker, 30-year-old Saul Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is currently being held on an aggravated assault charge but will be charged with murder, investigator Matt Guthas of the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said Saturday night.

Investigators are currently examining Gonzalez-Pina's residency status here in the United States.

Guthas said the last homicide confirmed and investigated by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office was discovered on Nov. 16, 2008 in the woods behind 998 Atlanta Highway in Winder. That case is still under investigation.
