Fire destroys S. Hall residence

BUFORD - A vacant house in South Hall went up in flames early Thursday.

Division Chief Jerry Smith of the Hall County Fire Department says it was a 1,200- to 1,700-square foot structure and was in the 4400 block of Bennett Road and was located behind the owner's residence.

Smith said the owner was at home in the second residence and was awakened by her dogs, saw the flames and called 911.

Cause of the 3:30 a.m. fire remains unknown.
