Vols' WR Austin Rogers to miss 2009 season

By The Associated Press
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee wide receiver Austin Rogers has torn a knee ligament and will miss the entire 2009 season.

Head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh says Rogers tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Friday and will undergo reconstruction surgery in the coming weeks.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior from Nashville had his best season as a sophomore, starting all 14 games in 2007 and finishing second on the team with 624 yards on 56 catches and four touchdowns. In 2008 among a crowded corps of receivers, he caught 14 passes for 180 yards.

Rogers' brother, Zach Rogers, is set to join the Volunteers this year as a freshman wide receiver.
