White Co. wreck leaves 1 injured

HELEN - It was a close call early Wednesday for a White County motorist when pickup plunged down a 30-foot embankment near Helen.

It happened about 7:25 on Alternate 75 near the entrance to Richard Russell Scenic Highway, according to Ana Newberry, spokeswoman for the White County Fire Department. Units from that department as well as the Helen Fire Department responded.

Newberry says the driver was the only person in the truck and was unable to get out because of damage to the vehicle.

She said the motorist sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
