Suspect arrested in string of thefts

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville man has been arrested in connection with several cases of entering an auto and theft and a burglary that occurred earlier this week.

The incidents occurred on Waverly Way off Stephens Road. Col. Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Office says that's where several vehicles were broken into. Strickland says, in addition, a four-wheeler and a dirt bike were taken from Georgia Outdoor Equipment & Garden Center and a house on Waverly Way was also broken into.

Investigators were able to develop leads which determined the identity of the suspect in these cases, Strickland said. The suspect, identified as Zachary Ryan Brannon, 29, was later located at a private residence on Dennis Drive off Mountain View Road and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators were able to locate and recover the stolen four-wheeler at a house on Allen Street in Oakwood.

Charges facing Brannon include three counts of entering an auto and theft by taking.
