Level of Lanier up almost a foot

BUFORD - The level of Lake Lanier rose almost a foot following the rainy weekend.

It was up .89 of a foot by early Monday and was at 1057.71.

Rainfall across the basin that drains into Lanier including 1.36 inches in Dahlonega, 2.30 inches in Helen; and 3.14 inches in Clarkesville.

The drought-stricken lake is now up nearly seven feet since December 8 but is still about 13 feet below full pool.
