BALTIMORE - Two Baltimore men who are members of an alleged assisted suicide ring have waived their right to an extradition hearing after a judge told them she could not allow them to travel to Georgia on their own.
Dr. Lawrence D. Egbert and Nicholas Alex Sheridan made their first appearances Friday morning in District Court in Baltimore.
Judge Jeanne Hong said they will be held until Georgia authorities come to collect them, but she may reconsider if Georgia agrees to let them travel on their own.
Egbert, the organization's medical director, and Sheridan, a regional coordinator, are two of four Final Exit Network members charged with assisted suicide in the death of a Cumming man in June.
Authorities say two other members arrested in Georgia were released overnight on $66,000 bond each. (See separate story.)
