GAINESVILLE - Patrick Henry hit a fifth inning grand slam and Zach Bennett also homered to lead the Gainesville A's American Legion baseball team to a 13-5 win over Dawsonville Wednesday night.
It was the ninth straight win for the A's (16-7, 8-1 in Area) after a rough start.
Dawsonville had jumped out to a 4-2 lead off Bennett, who got the win, but the red hot A's offense got going in the middle innings. Charlie Newman had four hits for Gainesville, which has averaged more than 10 runs a game over the past two weeks.
Kalen Phillips and Boby Wirsing pitched well in relief for Gainesville.
Gainesville next will play a doubleheader at Ivey-Watson on Saturday. Thursday's game against Conyers at home was canceled and no make-up date has been scheduled.
