NE Ga. Arts Tour begins Friday

By Dean Dyer/WRWH
UNDATED - The next two weekends will be a busy time for many talented people across Northeast Georgia.

They will be participating in the fourth annual Northeast Georgia Arts Tour. White, Habersham, Stephens and Rabun counties will serve as hosts for many special events during the two weekends. The tour will showcase artists such as painter Wyn Foland; flute maker Darrell Allen; wood carver Sam Brasher; jeweler Debi Snyder; and a whole lot more in galleries, businesses and parks.

The event kicks off Friday at the Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts (GHCA) in Tallulah Falls with demonstrations by Sam Brasher, Edith Hobart and White County artist Jaymi Hampton. A blue grass concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the Tallulah Falls Opry House.

Saturday, the festival gets moving in White County at the Helen Art and History Center, where Cleveland clay artist Patti Petit joins other artists demonstrating their work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Art demonstrations and displays and music continue at other venues up and down and around U.S. Highway 441 all the way to Mountain City, where Foxfire will host Dandelion Day. Photographers will have a chance for hands on experiences during a luncheon and digital camera workshop at the GHCA in Clarkesville.

From Saturday on there will be Stained Glass and Jewelry workshops at the GHCA Center; a two-workshop session of Kids Art in Clarkesville at the Mary Street Center; Alima's Summer Dance Workshop at the Mary Street Center in Clarkesville; and the Habersham Bank Homecoming featuring the Little River Band, plus fireworks at dusk.
