OAKWOOD - Lane closings associated with the work on Winder Highway at a Exit 16 in Oakwood are nothing new but several are planned this week... and for extended periods of time in some cases.
Here's the schedule which was announced Monday by the state Department of Transportation:
*I-985 Northbound at Exit 16 closures
Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12
9:30 am to 3pm daily
Northbound from milepost 15.5 to 16.5
One left lane will be closed so workers can haul stone into the old I-985 southbound lanes where the grade will be adjusted to tie into the newly constructed bridge on the southbound side.
*Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12
9:30 am to 3 pm daily
Westbound from milepost 13.5 to 14
The left and right lanes will be closed at separate times on SR 53 for some necessary bridge work before installing the bridge deck rebar.
*I-985 Eastbound/Westbound at Exit 22 closures
Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12
8 pm to 6 am daily
East and west bound from milepost 7.75 to 8.25
The right or left lanes will be closed at separate times on SR 11 both east and westbound for paving of the right shoulders and left turn lanes between the mileposts.
*I-985 Northbound/Southbound on and off ramps at Exit 22 closures
Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12
8 pm to 5:30 am daily
The on and off ramps will be closed for the installation of a reinforcement fabric mat on the existing concrete before then installing new asphalt on the ramps. I-985 traffic will be detoured to either Exit 20 or Exit 24 while work is ongoing on the Exit 22 ramps.
