ATLANTA - John Smoltz attracted more attention because he threw to hitters from a different arm angle.
Smoltz has been on the disabled list since April 29th with a sore shoulder. He is trying to throw more from the side to place less stress on the shoulder.
Braves hitters facing Smoltz were impressed.
Manager Bobby Cox said Wednesday Smoltz could be off the disabled list within 12 days.
Meanwhile, closer Rafael Soriano is scheduled to make another minor league rehab appearance for Double-A Mississippi Friday.
Soriano threw one inning on Wednesday night, allowing one hit with one walk and a strikeout.
