CONCORD, N.C. - Kyle Busch has captured the pole for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway
Busch turned in a lap of 185.433 miles per hour today to nose out Kasey Kahne for the pole in NASCAR's longest race of the season. It's the third pole of the season for Busch, who also started from the top spot in last week's All-Star race before leaving the event early due to engine problems.
Busch told reporters two hours before qualifying that he didn't have a car capable of the pole. But after his crew worked on it, Busch went out 22nd out of 48 cars, running a clean lap to overtake Kahne.
Kahne will be seeking his second straight win when he starts in the front row this weekend.
Brian Vicker qualified third, following by Greg Biffle, David Ragan and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
