Dogs head to SEC Tourney as top seed

ATHENS - The seventh-ranked Georgia baseball team will head into next week's SEC Tournament, which gets underway Wednesday in Hoover, Ala., at Regions Park as the top seed after winning the regular season title.

The Bulldogs are slated to play the No. 8 seed, Ole Miss, at 6 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised live by CSS.

Before Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs will be presented the 2008 SEC Championship Trophy by the league office. The SEC Tournament, a double-elimination event featuring the top eight teams, runs from May 21-25, and the winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

Georgia won two of the three meetings against the Rebels in Athens earlier this month.

However, after winning nine straight games and going 16-4 in April Georgia is just 6-5 in May.

Ole Miss is just 4-5 in May and lost two of three to Kentucky in its finale series of the season.
