MURRAYVILLE -- The Class AAA fifth-ranked North Hall girls soccer team advanced to the Elite Eight of the playyofs after shutting out Stephens County 4-0 Wednesday.
The Lady Trojans (14-1-1) will play host to St. Vincents on Saturday in the next round. No time has been set as of Wednesday night.
North Hall has won four straight and outscored its opponents 17-1 in that span.
The Lady Trojans attacked the Stephens goal with 18 shots in the first half, but were only able to convert one score. At 16:56, Ashley Lackey and Tess Patton combined on assists to Allie Wright, who scored from ten yards out.
The Lady Indians defense held the North Hall attack scoreless for the remainder of the first half to go into halftime only trailing 1-0.
The Lady Trojans came out blazing in the second half. Julia Matthews raced downfield with the opening kickoff and placed an accurate cross to Patton who shot it over the goal keeper's outstretched arms from 10 yards out for a 2-0 lead just 10 seconds into the half.
At 15:57, Wright launched a free kick in front of the Stephens goal and Bradee Burrell punched it in to give North Hall a 3-0 lead.
Four minutes later Patton recording her second goal on a pass from Wright for the final score.
The Lady Trojans defense limited the Lady Indians to only six shots on goal and recorded their 12th shutout of the season.
North Hall also received significant contributions from Laura Lane and Meredith Clark.
Stephens County finished its season at 12-4.
