SUWANEE - On Friday, Carroll Shelby's Chili will give Suwanee resident Glenn Chisholm a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT. The award is the grand prize in the company's Chili Sweepstakes, hosted by the chili's manufacturer, Reily Foods.
The event will take place at 4 p.m. at the Mall of Georgia Ford dealership at 4525 Nelson Brogdon Boulevard in Buford.
The promotion, which ran from Oct. 1, 2007 through Jan. 31, was part of a national retail customer marketing campaign that took place in grocery stores throughout the 48 contiguous United States.
Chisholm heard about the Carroll Shelby's Chili Sweepstakes in a Sunday newspaper insert, where the offer was advertised. That led him to www.funandfoods.com/shelby, where he entered the sweepstakes.
"I've had two Mustangs before, a four-cylinder and a GT. Now I'm excited to be stepping it up to a Shelby," Chisholm said.
The winner's black Mustang Shelby GT, which comes with an Upfitter's package, is valued at $42,000. It's outfitted with extras like retrofit parts, 18" black aluminum wheels, side airbags and two packages for improved handling and power. Sweepstakes second prize winners will receive collectible die-cast miniature versions of the revamped relic emblazoned with the Carroll Shelby's Chili logo.
"This is the first time that Carroll Shelby the brand was linked with Carroll Shelby the car designer through a sweepstakes offering a car that bears his name," said John Sillars, vice president of marketing for Reily Foods.
In addition to its Carroll Shelby Chili, the New Orleans-based company produces coffees, teas, mayonnaise, Cajun-Creole foods, seasonings, sauces, salad dressings and chili kits.
