Georgia Tech's James Johnson to skip senior season

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) Spokesman Dean Buchan confirmed last night that Johnson has given up football but will remain enrolled in school.
Johnson missed Saturday's scrimmage with tendinitis in his knee after struggling with the injury during his junior season.
Johnson's decision comes after receivers Colin Peek and D.J. Donley announced plans to transfer and another receiver, Greg Smith, was moved to A-back in spring drills.
Georgia Tech is expected to place less emphasis on its passing game in new coach Paul Johnson's option offense.
James Johnson's decision to leave the football team was first reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Johnson had 25 catches for 447 yards in 2007. He ranks 13th in school history with nine touchdown receptions, 15th with 1,240 yards receiving and 17th with 78 catches.
