GAINESVILLE - Hall County Administrator Jim Shuler has announced the appointment of Kenneth M. Rearden as Director of Public Works and Utilities for Hall County Government.
The Public Works Department was recently restructured upon the retirement of previous Director, Doug Derrer. In addition to Public Works Rearden will oversee Public Utilities, including management and development of Hall County's sewer initiatives.
With more than 30 years of experience in related positions, Rearden is a Registered Engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Southern Tech in Marietta. Since 1993, Rearden has held key positions in Public Works and Utilities for West Palm Beach, Fl., including 10 years as either Director of Public Works and Utilities or, most recently, as Assistant City Manager.
A Macon native, Rearden and his wife are familiar with Hall County and the surrounding area having owned property in White County since 1998. Two of the Rearden's three children live nearby in southern North Carolina, and other family members live and work in the Hall County area.
Rearden will start his new position on March 17.
