Rainfall tops one inch; Jan. about 3 inches below normal

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - Are you wondering how close we are to the two inches of rain forecasters said we might pick up yesterday and today? Well, we were within an inch of the mark at 7:00 Friday morning.

At that time, 1.28 inches had fallen at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville since the showers began about 12 hours earlier. That may be all we get. Radar at 7:30 showed most of the rain to the east of us and none to the west.

January ended yesterday with 2.66 inches... which is about three inches below normal for the month.
