It's official: GCC to discuss Shuler severance pay Thurs.

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - City officials confirmed Tuesday they will discuss a possible severance package for former Gainesville City Manager Bryan Shuler Thursday.

The city clerk's office posted a noticed Tuesday afternoon of a called meeting at 9:30 in the city manager's conference room in the Joint Administration Building. It will be held prior to an already-scheduled city council work session.

Controversy has swirled around the question of severance pay since it became know that when he resigned Nov. 13, Shuler was on paid administrative leave as the result of allegations of sexual harassment involving at least one female city employee. Shuler said at the time that he was stepping down to take care of his aging parents in South Carolina and to eventually seek employment "opportunities" elsewhere.
