ATHENS, Ga. - Megan Darrah scored a season-high 20 points and had five steals to lead No. 7 Georgia to a 93-49 victory over Presbyterian on Wednesday night.
Ashley Houts added 16 points and six assists for Georgia (13-0), and Tasha Humphrey had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Georgia scored the first six points of the game, and the Lady Blue Hose (1-15) rallied to briefly tie it on Bridget Takach's 3-pointer. But Darrah soon keyed an 11-0 run by Georgia, scoring on a spin-move in the lane, a stop-and-pop in transition and hitting two free throws as the Lady Bulldogs built a 24-8 lead.
Darrah scored 14 in the first half while Georgia built a 52-27 lead by intermission.
A pair of back-to-back 3-point plays by Angela Puleo and Houts gave Georgia an 82-40 lead with 7:22 left. The Lady Blue Hose never got within 40 over the final seven minutes.
Katlin Moore had 15 points to lead Presbyterian, playing its first season in Division I.
Humphrey's rebounding total moved her one ahead of Christi Thomas on the career rebounding chart at Georgia with 907.
Georgia is off to the second best start in school history. The 1989-90 team also started 13-0 before losing. Only the 1998-99 team started off better, winning its first 14 games.
Georgia had not played Presbyterian since Feb. 20, 1979, a 62-46 win for Georgia, significant because it was the last win in the program's history before Andy Landers was hired as the school's first full-time head coach.
Presbyterian will play in the Big South Conference next season.
