Man hospitalized after dogs attack him

By by Ken Stanford
WINDER - A Winder man is in the hospital after police said he was mauled by a neighbor's three pit bulls and after being rescued by another neighbor.

62-year-old Kelly Edwards was on a walk in his subdivision when he was attacked Monday morning. Because it was a holiday, David Banner was also taking a walk - at a time he would normally be at work. Banner tells the Georgia News Network he broke his walking stick beating the dogs off Edwards.

Another neighbor shot and killed one of the dogs and the other two were rounded up by Barrow County animal control. Edwards underwent extensive surgery at Gwinnett Medical Center. Charges are likely against the dogs' owner.
