Tax reform meeting planned in Oakwood

ATLANTA - One of a series of statewide meetings on proposed changes in Georgia's tax system is planned in Hall County this fall.

The tour - "Tax Reform: A Reality Check" - is jointly sponsored by the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute or GBPI, (an Atlanta-based think tank); AARP Georgia; Georgia Association of Educators; Georgia School Board Association; Georgia Municipal Association; and Georgia Coalition United for a Responsible Budget.

Ten meetings will be held between now and January. The first was Tuesday in Columbus.

The group's Hall County stop will be at Gainesville State College November 6.

State lawmakers are discussing a number of proposals that would make major changes in the state's tax system.

Each session begins at 4:00 and is expected to conclude by 6:00. There is no charge but registration is required. To register, please click on the link below.

The final meeting will be in Atlanta in January but specifics as to the date and place have not been announced.
