GAINESVILLE - A Hall County landfill initially thought to be in the city continues to burn Wednesday and may burn for several more days according to Gainesville's fire chief.
According to Chief Dick Taylor there shouldn't be anything toxic in the Crystal Creek landfill that started burning Monday.
Taylor says they hope to just let it burn itself out, "Rather then dump water on it which creates another whole series of problems due to the run-off."
The site was surveyed Wednesday by a State EPD officer and they have confirmed that everything has been handled properly.
The owner is monitoring the fire 24 hours a day and Hall County firefighters are on standby in case anything changes.
