Deadline approaching to apply for 'special needs' scholarships

GAINESVILLE - The deadline is fast-approaching for parents of special needs children in Georgia to apply for a new scholarship.

Five private schools in the immediate Gainesville area are among 120 in the state whose students are eligible for a Georgia Special Needs Scholarship.

They are Ava White Academy in Gainesville; Coronerstone Schools, Covenant Christian Academy and Horizon Christian Academy in Cumming; and Lighthouse Christian Academy in Clarkesville. Deadline for applying is September 10th.

So far, more than 3,200 families have applied.
