Monroe County weekly sold to local company

<p>The Monroe County Reporter has been sold to a local company formed by three established figures in Georgia newspapers.</p><p>The weekly newspaper was sold, as of July 1, to The Monroe County Reporter, Inc., created by Georgia newspaper publishers Will Davis of Forsyth and Robert and Cheryl Williams of Blackshear. Davis is the new publisher.</p><p>The seller was Grimes Publications of Athens. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.</p><p>Davis, 33, has been publisher of the White County News in Cleveland since 2005. He moved to Forsyth to manage the Monroe County newspaper.</p><p>The Williamses own the Southfire Newspapers Group, which includes The Blackshear Times, The Alma Times, The Alma Times Extra and The Ocilla Star. They are also co-owners of The Telfair Enterprise and The Three Rivers Gazette in McRae.</p>
