Arrest made in fraudulent document case

GAINESVILLE - Hall County authorities have arrested a Gwinnett County man following an undercover investigation into a fraudulent document scheme.

Ricardo Fuentes-Basso, 36, Lawerencville, is charged with Distribution of False Documents, according to Lt. Scott Ware of the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad.

Lt. Ware says Fuentes-Basso was arrested on Atlanta Highway. He says agents initiated the investigation following a tip alleging that Fuentes-Basso was involved in the manufacturing and sale of fraudulent forms of identification.

Subsequently, according to Ware, undercover efforts led to Fuentes-Basso delivering two fraudulent Georgia Identification Cards. The price for the two documents was $60, Ware added.

Federal immigration authorities have been contacted to follow up on Fuentes-Basso's immigration status "as well as any investigative leads in the Atlanta area regarding this case," Lt. Ware said.
