Special elections in Jackson, Rabun counties.

By by Ken Stanford
UNDATED - Voters in Jackson and Rabun counties will be going to polls Tuesday, one of several days set aside this year for special elections in Georgia.

In all, about 30 are planned around the state.

In Jackson County, a seat on the West Jackson Fire Department Board of Directors will be voted on.

It's a re-vote of a disputed election that was held last year.

The incumbent, W.C. Hosch, is running against Michael Cronic for the Braselton seat on the board.

Results of the November vote - in which Cronic led Hosch by only four votes - were thrown out after it was discovered that about 200 people not eligible to cast ballots did so.

RABUN SPLOST REFERENDUM

In Rabun County, voters will decide the fate of an extension of the county's SPLOST.

Renewal of the tax is expected to generate about twenty million dollars over five years which will be used for infrastructure improvements.

The bulk of the revenue would go into the county treasury, about $15 million. The rest would go to the cities and towns in the county.
