Candler Rd. work planned

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - It will be a "slow go" the rest of the week along a two-mile stretch of Candler Highway south of Gainesville.

Routine maintenance between 9:00-3:00 daily through Friday will require a pilot car to lead motorists through the work area.

The affected area is between Oak Brook Drive and McEver Lake Road.

"DOT Maintenance Forces will be working on the shoulders as part of our routine maintenance program," the state DOT's Teri Pope said. "They will be lowering or building up the dirt shoulders so you have a level area for recovery if you run out of the roadway. This work is tedious and requires a lane closure but the area is so curvy that we can only use a pilot car to lead vehicles through the work area."
