UNDATED - Gaineville's First Night, family-oriented New Year's Eve celebration may be a thing of the past, but there will be one in Cornelia.
In the heart of northeast Georgia's apple-growing country, it's the 4th Annual Rock 'n' Roll New Year's Eve Apple Drop.
It all begins at 8:00 at the Community House and includes music and food - and, of course, at midnight, just like in New York City, an apple drop to ring in 2008.
Now, especially for youngsters, and in Gainesville, there will be an all-day New Year's Eve celebration at INK, the interactive museum for kids, featuring face-painting, mask-making and a magician. That begins at 10:00 and continues until 5:00. Magician Jeff McClure will be performing 11:00-1:00. Admission will be free all day.
For the older folk, restaurants all over Gainesville will be ringing in the new year in the usual fashion.
