'Person of interest' not believed directly involved in two murders

COVINGTON, La. - Investigators in Louisana say the woman described as a "person of interest" in the murders of two Gainesville men is not believed directly involved in the slayings.

The woman turned herself in to Hall County authorities last week after news reports about the search for her.

The woman was an acquaintance of one of the victims, 30-year-old Miguel Ayala. The bodies of Ayala and 26-year-old Felipe Maximo, were found about four miles apart along I-12 about 30 miles outside New Orleans. Both had been shot execution-style.

Last Tuesday, the sheriff's office released pictures of Ayala and Maximo as well as a picture of Ayala and the woman, taken from a store's security camera. The woman turned herself in a couple of days later.

A car connected to the case, which had been rented in Gainesville, was found in Gainesville.
