The Class AAA portion of the Gasports.com girls basketball coaches poll almost looks like a rundown of Region 7-AAA.
Three teams from 7-AAA, including Gilmer (No. 6), Gainesville (No. 7) and North Hall (No. 9) made the top 10, while Region 8-AAA's Franklin County is ranked fourth.
Both Gilmer (10-0) and Franklin County (8-0) are undefeated, while North Hall (6-1) has just one loss. Gainesville (7-2), meanwhile, has two losses.
The Lady Trojans are undergoing one of their best starts in some time thanks to their first Lanierland title since 1990. North Hall clinched the win over defending state champs East Hall on Saturday, getting 22 points from Letiecia Davenport. The senior post has sparked the Trojans with three straight 20-plus point performances.
Buford (5-1) currently sits third in Class AA, while Towns County (9-0) is third in Class A. Jefferson (6-2) also cracked the rankings, coming in at No. 10 in Class A.
Buford and Gainesville are set to play each other on Friday.
