Lady Cats take 7-AAA regular season title

JASPER - Gilmer senior Tori Crawford pitched a three-hitter and drove in the winning runs with a bases loaded double in the sixth inning to lead the Lady Cats to a 3-0 win over Pickens Tuesday in Region 7-AAA action.

The win for Gilmer (14-13, 10-0 in region) clinched the top seed in the Region Tournament next week.

Pickens freshman hurler Kayla Byrom matched Crawford most of the game with 12 strikeouts and just four walks - all intentional to Anna Frazee.

Crawford used the lob pitch effectively getting five strikeouts and allowing just three hits, two coming in the first inning.

Pickens had its chances leaving six runners on base.

The Nettes fell to 13-12, 8-2 in region play with the loss.
