GAINESVILLE - You know election day is almost here when you can start voting by absentee ballot... and that's the case right now for the November 6 Gainesville City Election.
In fact, that's true wherever you are in Georgia for any elections scheduled that day.
Charlotte Sosebee-Hunter, Interim Director of Elections/Voter Registration in Hall County, says you can pick up an absentee ballot at her office or request one by mail. However, a written request is required for all absentee ballots.
Sosebee-Hunter says ballots are available for voting in person with "an acceptable, traditional" reason. However, mailed absentee ballot applications do not require a reason.
A week of early voting will begin, in the office only, Monday, Oct. 29.
Only one contested race is on the City of Gainesville ballot , for one of the school board posts.
