FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas quarterbacks coach Alex Wood has met with North Carolina coach Butch Davis, who is seeking to fill an opening at offensive coordinator.
``I respect Butch for what he's done in coaching, and North Carolina is a good program,'' Wood told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. ``When Butch called me, I wanted to take a look at what they're doing there and see what he had to say.''
Wood, 51, is a native of Masillon, Ohio. His resume includes stops as an assistant with the Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals, and four years as a head coach at James Madison. He was hired before the 2006 season as a Razorbacks assistant.
Wood said he had not been offered the job, though he said the interview went well. Davis has four openings to fill.
Wood also said he would not necessarily take the position, if offered.
``If it turns out they're interested in me, I'll have to wait and see what happens,'' Wood said. ``But I'm happy here at Arkansas.''
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said he expected some of his assistants to draw interest after the Razorbacks 10-4 season.
