Arkansas QB coach Wood interviews for UNC assistant position

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas quarterbacks coach Alex Wood has met with North Carolina coach Butch Davis, who is seeking to fill an opening at offensive coordinator.<br> <br> ``I respect Butch for what he&#39;s done in coaching, and North Carolina is a good program,&#39;&#39; Wood told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. ``When Butch called me, I wanted to take a look at what they&#39;re doing there and see what he had to say.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Wood, 51, is a native of Masillon, Ohio. His resume includes stops as an assistant with the Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals, and four years as a head coach at James Madison. He was hired before the 2006 season as a Razorbacks assistant.<br> <br> Wood said he had not been offered the job, though he said the interview went well. Davis has four openings to fill.<br> <br> Wood also said he would not necessarily take the position, if offered.<br> <br> ``If it turns out they&#39;re interested in me, I&#39;ll have to wait and see what happens,&#39;&#39; Wood said. ``But I&#39;m happy here at Arkansas.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said he expected some of his assistants to draw interest after the Razorbacks 10-4 season.<br> <br> Information from: Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, http://www.arkansasonline.com
