UNDATED - People all over the country are expected to pause Monday morning on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks - and there are at least three observances planned in our area.
The first will be held in Cumming at 11:15 at Liberty Garden located in the central park recreation center. It will be hosted by Keep Forsyth Beautiful.
Forty-five minutes later, at Gainesville State College, a program will be held in the student center.
And, at West Hall Middle School a 30-minute program is planned starting at 8:50.
A Gainesville native, Edna Stephens, who worked at the Pentagon was among those killed that day.
AccessNorthGa.com is planning a weeklong series of special reports on how northeast Georgians reacted to the attacks.
A number of people went to New York to lend a hand through church groups and other organizations; a delegation from the Gainesville City Council and Hall County Commission visited the city; and, a retired Delta pilot living in Gainesville reflected on what it must have been like for the pilots and crew of the doomed aircraft.
Theirs are the stories we'll share with you over the next few days.
