South Carolina defensive lineman Hall out for season

COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina starting defensive lineman Marque Hall will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, coach Steve Spurrier said Monday.<br> <br> The junior will have surgery on the knee, which he hurt in the second quarter of the Gamecocks 18-0 loss to No. 10 Georgia on Saturday night.<br> <br> Juniors Stanley Doughty and Joel Reaves are expected to share the load replacing Hall, Spurrier said.<br> <br> The Gamecocks hope to get Hall a redshirt since he played in less than two games, the coach said.<br> <br> South Carolina also will be without offensive tackle Gurminder Thind when the Gamecocks play Wofford on Saturday. The sophomore injured his right foot against Georgia. Freshman Hutch Eckerson will replace Gurminder.<br> <br> Spurrier also refused to address the quarterback situation. After the loss to Georgia, Spurrier said changes were needed in a number of positions. He wouldn&#39;t get specific after Monday&#39;s practice. ``We&#39;ll announce that later in the week,&#39;&#39; the coach said.<br> <br> Junior Blake Mitchell has struggled in the first two games this season and bruised his right hand late against Georgia. His backup is freshman Chris Smelley, who has gone 9-of-15 for 112 yards filling in for Mitchell, who has missed parts of both games because of injuries.<br> <br> Spurrier also told reporters none of the Gamecocks offensive players would be available for interviews this week because ``they&#39;ve done nothing to warrant an interview.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> ``They need to do something on the field before you talk to them,&#39;&#39; Spurrier said.<br> <br> (Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press.
