CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina will start redshirt freshman Cam Sexton over Joe Dailey at quarterback against Furman, coach John Bunting said Tuesday.
Bunting said he was making a change to spark an offense that has committed eight turnovers in losses to Rutgers and Virginia Tech.
``We want to give Cam this opportunity to start,'' Bunting said. ``There was some things he did well (against the Hokies). There's some things we see him do well in practice.''
Dailey started the first two games, but threw a key interception to end a drive late in the opening loss to Rutgers and threw two more picks against the Hokies. Sexton came on in relief of Dailey in the second quarter of that 35-10 loss, going 9-for-21 for 120 yards with two interceptions.
Bunting said the Tar Heels (0-2) will play both quarterbacks against the Division I-AA Paladins on Saturday, and that he hopes both will cut down on the turnovers that have hindered the team.
``Every decision I make is to try to help us have a better opportunity to win,'' Bunting said. ``Both of them are very competitive.''
