Dog-tired dogs get their man

FLOWERY BRANCH - The dogs were "dog-tired" but they got their man during an early morning search for a burglary suspect near Flowery Branch.

Shawn Richard Meyer of Suwanee was captured by the Hall County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit about 5:00 in woods off Friendship Road.

Lt. Ken Nix says the dogs zeroed in on Meyer after he was spotted a second time and after they had been given a break because they were "worn out" from a two-hour search that began about midnight. That's when sheriff's deputies interrupted a burglary while responding to a "suspicious person" call, Lt. Nix said.

Meyer is accused of taking $1,000 worth of equipment from a business on B.U. Bowman Drive.

The burglar was discovered by sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a "suspicious person."
