RALEIGH, N.C. - Eryk McConnell gave up one run on six hits and the Wolfpack scored in each of the first five innings in an 8-1 win over Virginia on Sunday.<br>

McConnell (5-3) threw 101 pitches over eight complete innings, walking one and striking out six as the Wolfpack (25-8, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) earned their fourth straight victory.<br>

Virginia's Mike Ballard (4-2) allowed five runs, two earned, on three hits in three innings, walking three and striking out none to take the loss for the Cavaliers (24-8, 6-6).<br>

Ramon Corona led N.C. State at the plate, going 2-for-4 and with one run scored. Brian Aragon added a homer and drove in two runs, while Matt Mangini also had a home run for the Wolfpack.<br>
<br>
Virginia's David Adams finished 3-for-4 on the afternoon, and Tim Henry came up with the only run for the Cavaliers with an eighth-inning home run.<br>
